Angelique Cottin was the alleged generator of poltergeist activity in France over a few months in 1846. Angelique came from a poor Catholic family who saw her supposed power of manipulating objects as a way to make money. Whether that was the plan all along or the Cottins had simply cashed in on their misfortune, no one knows for sure. Either way, it did not help the credibility of their story.
