Social Harmony in Ancient Egypt

Margaret Meade and other anthropologists tell us a great about life in Polynesia. We are told that there was no war, no murder and no suicide. Children were given a very high priority. These people were neither world class engineers or builders, they were non competitive in so far as all their needs were provided for by nature. There was food in abundance, a climate that presented no problems, in the main, and as a result of a very low level of stress. Perhaps the Egyptians had a low level of stress as well. It you have enough to eat, a relatively safe surroundings, one can find it easier to live in harmony.

In Southwest America, the Navajo Indians were given to the production of arts and crafts. They lived in a communal state of tranquility understanding the concept of cooperation. Their neighbors, the Apaches and the Cherokees, were war like. Aggressive with each other as well as their fellow Indian tribes. Anthropologists tell us that the Navajo child was nurtured and provided for well into its second year of its life. The other tribes encouraged their offspring to fend for themselves at an early age as possible. The Egyptians were virtually identical to the Navajos in their parenting attitudes and practices.

The Egyptians had great respect for their gods and equally great respect for each other. They were intelligent enough to find ways to settle grievances, see the advantage of cooperation and a spirit of mutuality. There was no need for rebellion and they held the totality of their world in the highest regard. Superior intelligence, a sound philosophy of life, a meaning religion and a low stress level enabled them to thrive century after century.
